File this under things you don't hear every day: Texas A&M football has an alumnus headed to the Winter Olympics to compete as a part of Team USA's Bobsled team. Boone Niederhofer, who Aggie fans will remember as a receiver from the 2014-2016 seasons (though most of his production came in that 2014 season), will be the first-ever Aggie in the Winter Olympics, according to Texas A&M Athletics.
For the first time EVER, we'll have a Fightin' Texas Aggie in the Winter Olympics!

According to his profile on teamusa.com, Niederhofer worked in oil and gas after graduating from A&M in 2016, but attended a bobsled combine on Texas A&M's campus in the summer of 2019— because what other time would you do that?— and joined the US Bobsled team two years later at the IBSF (International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation) World Cup.
Texas A&M fans will be cheering on former receiver Boone Niederhofer in bobsled events at upcoming Winter Olympics
A San Antonio native, Niederhofer was mostly a role player on the Aggie offense during his time in College Station. His best season was 2014, where he recorded 29 receptions for 293 total yards. He joined the Aggies in 2012 as a walk-on, but worked his way into the rotation by his redshirt sophomore year.
In an interview with TexAgs Live, Niederhofer credits former 12th Man Sam Moeller as the person who pointed him towards bobsledding. After the company he worked for out of college was bought out, Moeller directed him towards trying out for the sport, and Niederhofer found out quickly that he had what it took.
He's been pursuing his dream ever since then, working an office job for most of the year except when he is training and participating in these events. It's begun to pay off, obviously, as he has now qualified for the Olympics and will be living the dream this month as the Winter games get underway. Congrats, Boone— the Aggie faithful will all be rooting for you!
