Texas A&M football left off of top teams list for recent high-profile visitor

Texas A&M football looked like they may have been making some major inroads with a stellar talent, but they apparently didn't gain enough ground.

Texas A&M football is building a big time class in the 2026 cycle. The Aggies already have some elite talents committed in that junior class and are gunning to add even more players.

The Ags have made some major inroads with some of the top talents in the nation already. Recently, they had both the number one and number two overall ranked players visit College Station, signaling some pretty big things to come on the recruiting front.

OT Jackson Cantwell and OT Immanuel Iheanacho are two out-of-state players who have taken an interest in the Ags— enough for A&M to get visits from the both of them. However, the hope that the Ags will land one of the two has become somewhat diminished with recent news.

Texas A&M football left off of no. 1 overall player's top group despite recent visit

Jackson Cantwell, the top overall player right now for the class of 2026, released a group of top teams earlier today. Texas A&M football did not make the cut, despite hosting him on campus recently.

Oregon, Ohio State, and Michigan have been looking to be the top group for quite some time, but the Aggies were hoping to wedge their way in the door. Whatever ground they may have gained, though, it looks like it wasn't quite enough to make the top group for Cantwell.

All is not lost, of course. The Aggies are still in the running for Iheanacho and elite in-state OT prospect John Turntine along the offensive front.

The Aggies need only close on one of those two five-stars to have a guy that will anchor this offensive line group. After signing Lamont Rogers last cycle, the Ags are looking for another tackle to pair with him going forward, and either Turntine or Iheanacho would be more than up to the task there.
