Jabre Barber cites personal reasons as his perfect time to go to the NFL
Jabre Barber announced on Instagram that he has declared for the 2025 NFL Draft.
The receiving core for the Aggies wasn't consistent enough, but Barber was always an individual, shifty talent who played bigger than his 5-foot-10 frame.
Barber showed some major potential when he was playing at Troy. He knew how to move his feet and cut when he needed to.
Barber at Texas A&M didn't turn out to be what he was at Troy thanks to injury, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have any individual talent. It's all right there.
Compared to his 75 catches for 999 receiving yards and five touchdowns he had in his junior year at Troy, he only had 38 catches for 381 yards and two touchdowns in 2024 with the Aggies.
As Barber said, it was a tough season personally. Along with personal issues and a quarterback change, it can be pretty difficult to get adjusted with a new team.
His best game came in a loss against South Carolina where he had seven catches for 80 yards and a touchdown.
It's been a roller coaster of an offseason for Texas A&M, but the receiving corps looks in tact. It's the defense that probably has the most questions moving forward.
Barber could be someone that could be used on a special teams or when you just need a screen play for seven or more yards. He could be somewhere along the lines of a sixth round draft pick if a team needs to fill some space for a fast guy.
