Texas A&M football makes distinguished list of rare teams with high continuity

In a sport with so much turnover, every bit of continuity is a plus. The Aggies have it in droves this year.

Texas A&M football has had far too much change and upheaval going on within their ranks over the past five years or so. The Aggies have seen quarterbacks go down with injury, some leave through the portal, and obviously underwent a major coaching change between 2023 and 2024, all of which have contributed to a lack of continuity in the program.

One of the areas where this has been really notable on the team, besides quarterback, has been the offensive front. The Aggies' OL has seen far too much contribution from true freshmen and other inexperienced players, but this year, the Ags will return all of their top seven offensive linemen.

That's a feat not many others in the country can claim, and it's one that we've written a lot about as a key point of hope going into the 2025 season. However, there's another layer to the continuity that the Aggies will have next year that has been under-discussed up until this point.

Texas A&M returns key coaches along with contributors in 2025

Despite fans calling for the firing of Jay Bateman following last season, he will return as DC in 2025, which means the Aggies make this list:

This is a select few teams that return all of these factors, only 28 out of more than 130 teams in FBS. Given everything else that the Aggies bring back, this becomes even more significant.

Of course, just bringing back all of these factors doesn't mean that you will be a good team, it means that you will be improved over what you were the year before. Since the Aggies were a pretty good team, we will be able to see just how pronounced the effect of this kind of continuity actually is. For my part, I think it will be extremely noticeable in the best way.
