Texas A&M's 2026 recruiting class may not be a knock-down, drag-out favorite for the top overall spot anymore, but the Aggies will no doubt finish in the top five, if not the top three, classes in the nation. This A&M staff has assembled quite the deep bench of talent in this upcoming cycle, and they're looking to continue adding to it.

A longtime target for the Aggies has been four-star tight end Evan Jacobson out of Waukee, Iowa. A two-sport star, utilizing his 6'7" frame on the hardwood as well as the gridiron. He's been a coveted player for both Mike Elko and Bucky McMillan, therefore— his commitment would be a real two birds, one stone situation.

As is becoming more common, players are making their commitment decisions earlier and earlier in the calendar. As Jacobson nears his own, the Aggies are looking like they're in a prime spot— now, they just need to land the plane.

In one of their final big time battles of this cycle, the Aggies are looking more like they're about to come out on top:

This would be a great add for the Aggies if Jacobson were to commit. He would be set to join a tight end group that includes the quickly-rising Kaeden Johnson out of Houston and Caleb Tafua out of Washington State. All three players cut different profiles, so this would be yet again a talented and deep group for the Aggies.

Nothing is guaranteed, of course. Texas A&M will need to outlast the in-state Iowa State Cyclones and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in order to get this one over the finish line, but Mike Elko and company have put together an impressive stretch so far that makes me think they can do just that.
