It's officially Mississippi State week.

Mike Elko held his weekly press conference this season and previewed Mississippi State.

As we've talked about, this would be a vital win for Texas A&M in terms of their dominance in the conference this season.

Elko described one improvement on the team that's taken them to new heights in the middle of the 2024 season.

Elko: Wide receivers have improved since Week 1

When asked about an improvement since the Notre Dame game, Elko was asked about which position group had improved.

"Since the first week of the season, I would probably say the wideouts. From game one to now, that's probably the area that you say has taken the biggest steps and strides," Elko said.

Elko is not wrong. The receiving group had 100 receiving yards against Notre Dame.

Does Conner Wiegman deserve some constructive criticism for that? Yes. The receiving group as a whole didn't get much production either.

Elko also credited the rhythm of timing on catching passes getting better as the season has gone on.

Weigman doesn't have to be great. He just has to be efficient to get the football in the redzone for the team to capitalize.

After all, Weigman didn't have any touchdown passes against Missouri. Weigman had a highly efficient day of distributing the football to 10 different receivers. He went 18/22 in completions, but no touchdowns or interceptions.

Getting that many receivers involved shows Elko is correct. The passing game looks much more confident compared to the Notre Dame game.

The Aggies will need that same passing attack if they want to send a dominant message to the SEC on Saturday against Mississippi State.
