Texas A&M football triumphed over Auburn today, and the Aggie social media accounts didn't refrain from poking a little bit of fun at the Tigers after the score went final.
This was a game that, in many ways, Aggie fans will be eager to forget. Texas A&M recorded an extremely high number of penalties in this one, and things never really got in a rhythym for Marcel Reed and company— every time it looked like things were humming along, a penalty or miscue would stymy the momentum.
All that said, though, a win is a win, and the Aggies are now 4-0 for the first time in a long time. Despite the fact that there's some clear areas to work on, A&M came out the victor, and that led to quite a bit of jubilation around College Station. This post from the official Texas A&M football account, therefore, gave Aggie fans everywhere a bit of a chuckle.
Texas A&M trolls Hugh Freeze, Auburn after win: "Happy birthday, coach!"
Texas A&M fans remember how the Aggies triumphed over Alabama in 2021 on Jimbo Fisher's birthday, but today Hugh Freeze's birthday wishes apparently fell flat:
Happy Birthday, Coach! 👍#GigEm https://t.co/0NPA1w03yM

This is just about as harmless as it gets when it comes to this kind of social media trolling— we've seen some pretty ruthless jabs from time to time— but it was still good for a laugh. You don't want to see your rival team chiming in like this after the game, but the Aggies did so with a wink.
More seriously, this game is a symbol of why the Hugh Freeze era is in a little bit of jeopardy down on the Plains. The Tigers couldn't get anything done all day on offense, even though their defense played pretty opportunistically.
All that would have been wiped away, of course, had Auburn just been able to emerge with a win. They didn't, of course, and so now the murmuring will just grow louder down on the Plains. In Aggieland, though, it's a relieved smile and a laugh or two.
