Texas A&M football joins elite group of teams for recruiting in 2025 cycle
Texas A&M football recruiting has been on an upward trend since Mike Elko took over as head coach. After the heights of the now-infamous 2022 class, things started going down pretty precipitously under Jimbo Fisher, even though there were a few high spots.
Under Elko's watch, though, the Aggies have most notably been much bigger players in the transfer portal than they were under Jimbo. Fisher had some big contributors come through the portal, but they were few and far between in comparison to what the new Aggie head man has put together.
In this new era of college football, though, you need to have a balance. Lane Kiffin down in Oxford has gone full bore in portal recruiting to the exclusion of success in high school recruiting, and it hasn't quite panned out for him yet— even though he brought in one of the best portal classes of all time last cycle.
The Aggies have apparently found that balance, along with a couple of other teams. They join an elite group of squads with a top-10 overall high school and top-10 overall portal class from last cycle.

Oregon is the standout from this group, bringing in the no. 4 class in both rankings, but the Aggies have a claim to the best mix otherwise. They and LSU are probably neck-and-neck behind the Ducks, but I'd give the edge to the Aggies given how well they addressed needs and how much LSU is losing.
This is an exciting time to follow Texas A&M football recruiting. The 2026 cycle is off to a hot start and the 2025 class was a success in every respect. Elko has proven the doubters wrong so far with his ability to recruit, and Aggie fans are loving seeing it.
