It's been a busy last two months for Texas A&M football.

They've seen their offensive depth grow in just a matter of days. As far as their defensive depth, they will have to come up with an answer to their defensive line in time for 2025.

As Texas A&M just saw one of their veteran corners call it a college career, they will need an answer to fill that gap too.

Texas A&M football to lose more defensive depth as BJ Mayes declares for NFL Draft

BJ Mayes as cornerback saw plenty of action in an Aggie uniform.

He totaled 111 tackles with seven interceptions. He showed his versatility, flying all over the field against any receiver.

He got a key interception against a come from behind victory against LSU.

Mayes has always been someone to play with a chip on his shoulder. Before Texas A&M, he played at Incarnate Word and UAB, where he fought his way up to the higher levels.

Texas A&M will need to fill in a spot at the cornerback position. The good news is that Will Lee III will be back, but the Ags will need a bit more depth than just him.

The defense as a whole will be a big question, but as for Mayes, he's someone who's had dreams of playing in the NFL from those days at Incarnate Word. My prediction is that he would be picked in the fourth round of the draft. His ability to track the ball like a receiver might be what separates him from other defensive backs.

It's been a crazy offseason already for Texas A&M football, and Mayes' decision to go pro won't be the end of the concern for the Aggies defense.
