Texas A&M football has so far looked like they can really do no wrong in the class of 2026. They've locked down several huge targets, notched visits from high-caliber prospects, and overall retain an extremely bright outlook for that cycle.

Of course, nothing is so simple in recruiting. You rarely if ever have a cycle that only brings positive news to the table, and the Aggie faithful always knew that there would be some bumps along the way.

Especially with the fact that A&M landed a couple of out-of-state prospects seemingly out of nowhere— ones who had been predicted to other schools— you had to think that there would be a few setbacks along the way. It looks like the first such eventuality has manifested itself.

Star TE Xavier Tiller decommits from Texas A&M football after three-month pledge to Aggies

One of Texas A&M football's top-ranked pledges, Xavier Tiller out of Fairburn, GA, just backed off of his pledge to the Aggies.

Tiller, a composite top-100 player in the upcoming cycle, had been committed to the Aggies since November. His pledge came a little bit out of nowhere; while he had visited the Aggies recently, there had been much less buzz around his interest in the Aggies than there had been for a guy like Aaron Gregory, for example.

Even so, this does cause some worry among Texas A&M football fans regarding their standing with a player like Aaron Gregory or Jordan Carter. Those two top-50 players, both out of the Peach State, are going to be highly-contested recruitments. Can the Aggies have staying power there even though they're so far away from College Station?

I think Elko and this staff can stand in the ring for those two guys and hold their own. Similarly, I don't think they're going anywhere for Tiller. Auburn will be a big player here, as he seemed to be trending towards the Tigers before committing to the Aggies, but that established relationship will be something in A&M's favor right up until signing day. Hopefully, they can bring him back into the fold before all is said and done.
