Texas A&M football names captains for 2025 team, adding new name to two familiar players
Ever since Mike Elko took over at Texas A&M football, one of his big missions has been to rebuild the culture in the program. Things were not left in the best spot by Jimbo Fisher, so Elko certainly had his work cut out for him in that regard.
He took some great steps in year one. There's been a lot more accountability thus far since Elko became head man, and despite some issues down the stretch last year, things have overall been trending upwards.
Part of that kind of leadership is reproducing leaders in the locker room. Elko came into a situation with a coule of players who could fill that role, and he developed them well in that respect: Taurean York and Trey Zuhn were both named team captains last year, and for good reason.
But there's another guy who took on that mantle organically over the course of last season. It should be no surprise who, really: not only by virtue of the position he plays but the attitude he brings, most on the team have acknowledged Ar'maj Reed-Adams as one of the foremost voices in the locker room.
Today, he had that leadership recognized as he was named a captain alongside Taurean York and Trey Zuhn.

This is a high if expected honor for Reed-Adams, who became a quick fan favorite as he helped reshape the culture of a pretty tough-looking OL unit from previous years. Behind him, the Aggies are expected to have one of the top OLs in the country next season.
It's always a positive when two of your captains come from the offensive line, as that bodes well for the unit overall. This may be the biggest key to the Aggies' success this year, so this is a hopeful sign.
