Texas A&M basketball has been a surprise this season. The surprise was that no one expected the Aggies to make it to the NCAA Tournament, and absolutely no one expected a Round of 32 appearance.
Now that the college basketball world knows the Aggies can play basketball, it unfortunately means that the portal will be active for the Aggies. It will now be active for guard Josh Holloway, as he has now decided to take his talents elsewhere.
Texas A&M guard Josh Holloway will enter the transfer portal
Holloway was a solid piece for the Aggies off the bench with his athleticism and quickness, and he will no doubt be a nice role player for wherever he decides. He was a solid 3-point shooter with the Aggies, and that's where he will be missed the most. Holloway actually improved his shot from deep, shooting over 40 percent from downtown. He's going to be a key player for another squad, but the Aggies will miss an Energizer Bunny who could get a bucket whenever necessary.
Holloway played under Bucky McMillan at Samford and Texas A&M. You have to think that if he has the mindset to play "Bucky Ball" and press his opponents, he could make it work with his next team. He started in 11 games at Samford in the 2024-25 season, so he has some experience as a starting playmaker, no matter where he goes.
It's one of those pieces where you feel like it won't be the end of the world, but we will miss him, no matter where he ends up transferring to.
Obviously, we wish Holloway the best, but if McMillan can bring in another guard to match Holloway's energy and shot from the outside, let's just say it's not a bad move at all.
