Texas A&M has opportunity to rob Longhorns of one of their brightest young players

The Aggies have to capitalize on this one without a doubt.

Texas A&M is still looking to fill out the rotation at the defensive end spot after the departure of Cashius Howell to the NFL, along with the exit of Rylan Kennedy to FSU and Solomon Williams to Cal via the portal. One name that just popped up could be the perfect fit for the Aggies— and stick it to the Longhorns in the process.

Umeozulu was a top target for the Aggies in the tumultuous 2024 cycle, one which saw Jimbo Fisher and Elijah Robinson exit College Station— both of which would have been a big deal in this particular recruitment. Robinson, of course, is back— and his preexisting relationship with Zina could play in big time here.

Texas A&M can add another instant-impact transfer with Texas DE Zina Umeozulu

The former Allen High School defensive end joins a growing number of top Texas players who are seeking a way out of Austin, much to the chagrin of those in burnt orange. The Aggies can add insult to injury here if they move quickly to add Zina Umeozulu, and bolster their own roster in the process.

The Aggies picked up a commitment from Northwestern's Anto Saka yesterday to go along with EDGE commit Ryan Henderson of San Diego State, but they need more than that given what they're losing. Umeozulu could be the perfect player to round out a three-man portal class at the position.

This would give the Aggies a great blend of talent and experience at that spot. Add those three to a blossoming star in Marco Jones, and the Aggie pass rush coming off the edge could be another high-level threat to the conference next season.

There's a few things that have to go right for the Aggies to take advantage here, but they are certainly positioned to make some noise if they so desire. Watch Elko and E-Rob here carefully over the next few days in this recruitment.
