Texas A&M football has had a bit of a tough run over the last few weeks. They've closed on some prime targets, yes, including Tylan Wilson and Tamarion Watkins, but they missed out on some of the more high-leverage recruitments they were involved in.

With five star prospects Lamar Brown and Tank Jones committing elsewhere, the Ags have swung and missed on two of their bigger targets for the cycle. Though the class as it currently stands is still really solid, the Aggies have to feel like they were on the verge of something even much bigger than where they currently are.

However, they are not out of the running for all of their five-star targets. The Aggies have been in the backseat of the Bralan Womack recruitment for a little bit, but they now are making a serious move ahead of the Mississippi safety's upcoming August 22 decision.

Texas A&M still a contender for five-star safety Bralan Womack as top recruits fly off the board

Texas A&M is still a top contender for Bralan Womack, a high-level safety out of Mississippi, despite a lot of Ohio State momentum for some time now:

The Buckeyes have been the leader for Womack for quite a while, but the Aggies are doing what they can to make a move here. Womack will make his decision later this month, and the Ags are trying to move up his board.

It likely helps that the Aggies have a big time Mississippi recruit committed now in safety Tylan Wilson, and given that he and Womack play the same position, he's no doubt doing plenty of recruiting for the Aggies on that front. Though it may not be the most significant thing in the world, you have to take whatever upper hand you can find in the recruiting game.

Womack's impending decision could be the Aggies' last shot at winning out in a recruitment like this for this cycle. They'll stay on all of their top targets until pen meets paper, of course, but it's been tougher and tougher to flip kids recently, so this one takes on a heightened importance. Hopefully, they can bring it home.
