Texas A&M basketball is headed to Nashville today to take on the Vanderbilt Commodores in a game that has quickly become a must-win for Bucky McMillan's squad. The Aggies are on a three-game losing streak, falling most recently to the Missouri Tigers in an embarrassing home performance, and desperately need their fortunes flipped pretty quickly.
Those fortunes got a boost today, as it was confirmed that the Commodores will be without their second-leading scorer, Duke Miles, in today's game. Miles averages 16.6 points, 3 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game. The senior Commodore was a key piece in Vandy's rotation, so they'll be scrambling to figure out how to take on the Aggies without him.

The 'Dores will have their leading scorer, Tyler Tanner, for the Aggies to contend with, however. Miles was a big piece of the Commodores' offense, but Tanner is an even bigger piece— stopping him will be key in this matchup.

The Commodores, after a red-hot start, have come back to earth somewhat, going 4-4 in their last 8 after starting off 16-0. This will be a Quad 1 opportunity for the Aggies nonetheless, and one that is extremely needful for them given the upcoming schedule.
After this, the Aggies have two more big time opportunities, against Arkansas and Kentucky. If Bucky's squad exits the season without a signature win, it could be enough for the selection committee to leave them out of the field of 68 completely.
Close out this one, though, and the Aggies willf inally get that elusive ranked win, something they were unable to do against Tennessee or Florida. That the Commodores will be without Miles is something that will aid the Aggies greatly in that endeavor, so hopefully they take full advantage.
