Texas A&M fans had some hope that things would go differently, but that all just evaporated.

The injury report for Texas A&M headed into this Friday's game against the Texas Longhorns— the last game standing between the Aggies and a perfect regular season— only provided A&M fans who hoped to see the Aggies at full strength with a sliver of hope. Now, that hope is entirely gone.

Not for the game, of course— only for full participation from the missing Aggie starters. It's been known for a little while now that senior S Bryce Anderson would not be participating as he aims for a redshirt, but RB Le'Veon Moss and LB Scooby Williams— both of whom have been out of commission since the Florida game— were not immediately ruled out in the initial availability report from the Aggies.

Though they were not ruled out, they were indeed listed as "doubtful," which is only slightly better. Both have now been downgraded to out, meaning the Aggies will once again have to go on the road and win without two of their top senior starters.

Fans hoped that, even if one of these two was unable to go, the other would be available and ready for this game. The word for a while now is that this weekend was the target for Moss in particular— but the worst possible outcome was always both being unavailable.

That's the result the Aggies will have to live with, but with how deep this team is at both positions, they're well-equipped to do so. Rueben Owens, Jamarion Morrow, and EJ Smith have done the heavy lifting at running back, while Daymion Sanford and an increasing dose of Noah Mikhail have done the trick at linebacker opposite Taurean York.

There's still no movement on Anthony Hill's status for Texas, but other than that, the Longhorns have a clean bill of health for this game. It would be a blow if Hill is unable to play, but if he's still questionable coming into game time, I'd be surprised if he doesn't go.

It would be a luxury to have Williams and Moss back, especially considering how the latter can lean on a defense, wearing on them into the fourth quarter, but this didn't catch the Aggie staff off guard. They'll have a solid plan for how to attack this Texas team even without these senior starters, and if they can execute on it, they'll return home with a win.
