Texas A&M is trying to put together a big time recruiting class in the 2026 cycle, and out-of-state prospects are already playing a huge part in those efforts. The Aggies have some important commitments from the Lone Star State, and are looking to add more, but their out-of-state haul is as impressive as any.
Spanning the distance between Washington State all the way over to Georgia, the current commit list is truly impressive. However, Elko and company are not satisfied— there are still plenty of huge battles that they are right in the middle of.
One of the biggest battles is with massive SEC powers right in the heart of the South. One of the Magnolia State's top playmakers has set his list of official visits, and the Aggies look like they've made the cut.
Texas A&M set to receive visit from five-star defensive end Anthony "Tank" Jones
Anthony "Tank" Jones has locked in an official visit with Texas A&M, according to Hayes Fawcett of On3. The Aggies will get the third visit of Jones's five-visit slate, which begins and ends with in-state powers Auburn and Alabama.
The Aggies are also battling with Miami and Oregon for Jones's commitment. Given his stature in the class, this will be a knock-down, drag-out fight without a doubt. The Aggies need to bring their A-game in this one if they want to come out on the right side of this one.
That said, the Aggies really do have as good of a chance as anyone in the race for Tank's signature. The highly-rated defensive end has visited College Station several times already up until this point, and clearly has a level of comfort with this staff that's hard to replicate.
At the same time, it's going to be a tough pull to get any five-star out of Alabama when both in-state schools are pursuing him so hard. A few cycles ago, many Aggie fans thought that Tony Mitchell, a five-star DB out of Alabama, would sign with the Maroon and White only for him to end up in Tuscaloosa.
Hopefully, this recruitment ends up better than Mitchell's for the Maroon and White. For that to come to pass, though, A&M will have to impress on that early June visit.
