Texas A&M looks to break their own eye-popping record with road win vs. Missouri

For a team that has had so many road woes over the last years, this would represent an astounding turnaround.

Texas A&M is coming off of a well-earned bye weekend last Saturday as they now anticipate a trip to Columbia, Missouri, to take on the Missouri Tigers. That off weekend came at a great time, as the Aggies are in the midst of a three-game road trip that will see them away from Kyle Field for over a month.

It's not just a three-game road trip, of course— it's a three game road trip made up of all conference games. Such occurrences are relatively rare in the SEC since Texas A&M joined, but what is even rarer is a road team achieving victory in all three instances.

Since the Aggies joined the conference back in 2012, there have only been ten instances of a team playing three straight SEC road games without an intervening neutral-site or home game. In every instance except one, the road team has lost at least one game— with the lone exception being 2012 Texas A&M, who capped off that road trip with their win over the no. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide.

Texas A&M looks to break their own insane record with three-game SEC road win streak

Interestingly, out of the ten aforementioned instances, the Aggies have been responsible for three of them— in 2012, 2018, and 2025— and Auburn has been responsible for three as well, in 2017, 2019, and 2024. That means that more than half of all of these instances are made up from these two teams, which is a bit shocking (insert comment about Greg Sankey hating Texas A&M here).

LSU has technically done it once, but it was in 2020, so there was a double bye week in between thanks to health and safety protocols— they played on October 31, November 21, and November 28.

In every instance except for 2012 A&M, a team has lost at least one of these first two road games, as well. With Texas A&M being favored to beat the Missouri Tigers, they could be slated to accomplish this rarest of feats for the second time in 13 years— with no other team even doing it once.

It won't be easy, but this Aggie team keeps proving that they're special. With the narrative about Texas A&M's road woes being so well-worn over the last few years, the fact that they're in this spot is a huge testament to Elko's turnaround. Here's hoping we see the Ags break their own record with a big time win this Saturday.
