Texas A&M guard Ruben Dominguez is entering the transfer portal after only one season in College Station, as Luke Evangelist of TexAgs reported this morning. Dominguez's promise and potential was as a knock down three point shooter, but he never quite lived up to that when the Aggies needed him this year.

Texas A&M guard Rubén Dominguez will enter the transfer portal, a source told @TexAgs.
Dominguez averaged 10.2 PPG and shot 40% 3P% last year. He holds the single-game record for most three’s made in a game at Texas A&M with 10. pic.twitter.com/sI8F3Y5Jyu
Dominguez looked like the sharpshooter that he was promised to be early on in the year, making some huge contributions during the Aggies' extremely hot start. However, once SEC play started— and beyond— there was very little delivery on what Texas A&M fans believed to be his game.
Getting hot from three is a big part of Bucky McMillan's offense, so when the team can't hit the broad side of a barn, the system is going to really struggle. Dominguez was meant to be the guy that could provide a spark and get other players open, and while we saw some of that from him, it wasn't near enough.

This adds to the difficulties that the Aggies will have in replacing the production that's headed out the door. Thanks to the way Bucky McMillan had to build his team this past offseason— as a last-minute venture, essentially— the Ags had a lot of players nearly out of eligibility.
Dominguez was one of the few that could have returned to College Station, but as his role diminished in the latter part of the season, it's clear he thought he could find better luck elsewhere. If he can find his stroke consistently, he will be a huge threat for whatever team he lands with, but if that does not happen, he's a liability.
Dominguez had a lot of success overseas before coming to College Station, so hopefully wherever he lands, he can replicate that success. Best of luck to Ruben in the future.
