Power ranking the SEC in 2025 preseason: #3 - Texas A&M

The Aggies have a chance to have an unforgettable season in 2025. With the return of Marcel Reed, one of the most dynamic running quarterbacks in the conference, a patent upgrade in receiving talent, and the top seven offensive linemen on the team all coming back, this is a roster that is poised to take huge strides.

The worries with this squad mostly have to do with their defense. The Aggies were bullied at times down the stretch of last year, and although they were injured, there was a lot that was concerning on that side of the ball.

The addition of Lyle Hemphill to this coaching staff, as well as Mike Elko taking over the defense, works to assuage those fears a little bit— Elko has certainly earned the benefit of the doubt when it comes to coaching defense. However, there's certainly a "prove-it" factor on that side of the ball.

A&M was closer than anyone seems to realize to getting in the SEC championship last year, and even though they have less favorable home-road splits in 2025, they could be improved enough to put themselves in Atlanta this season. We'll know a lot more about this team after week three in South Bend, but don't get caught jumping on the bandwagon too late.
