Texas A&M has already built an extremely high-level class in the 2026 cycle, but there's still more yet to be done. The Aggies have quite the group committed at this point, and even if they exited this year, they would still have a class that will serve as a huge building block moving forward.

In this era of recruiting, though, you can never be too careful when counting your chickens. With the advent of NIL and some schools swinging as big as they can on a monetary front, we've seen some last-minute steals happen in recruitments across the country.

That's why this recent trend, one that has become a staple among the Aggie commits— much to the joy of A&M fans— is so valuable to this class. In a world where commitments are shakier than ever, this Aggie recruiting staff has been excellent at locking in their recruits, and we just saw a great example of one go public.

Texas A&M pledge Vic Singleton shuts down recruitment to guarantee Aggies top signing

Singleton, himself a flip from the Illinois Fighting Illini, has made the call to shut down his recruitment in favor of the Aggies:

I think this might grate against the senses of some Aggie fans, but there's a subtle genius to Mike Elko and crew conducting their business in this way. This is an easy way to communicate very publicly that their commits aren't going anywhere and thereby create some positive momentum.

The irony, if it comes to pass, of this tactic, too, is that the Aggies could capitalize on the exact opposite phenomenon to round out their signing group. Texas A&M is heavily pursuing LSU pledge Tristen Keys at the receiver spot to give their commit class a couple of true number ones in Keys and Aaron Gregory.

It would be quite the flex if the Aggies lock in all of their pledges and then are able to flip one of the most hotly-pursued recruits in the entire nation. Here's hoping that's exactly what we see happen.
