Texas A&M football has been recruiting lights out for the class of 2027, en route to what will no doubt be the the top class in the nation for this cycle, but they have only just begun with the class of 2028. They’re off to a really good start with the commitment of Chance Archangel, the top player in Louisiana for the upcoming year, but they have their eyes set on another bevy of five-star players in addition.
While it will be difficult to rival the quality of the class the Aggies are currently set to bring in, they will look to go back-to-back with stellar hauls in a way that A&M has been unable to do for quite some time. That’s what this program needs to go to the next level— even after the legendary class of 2022, they fell far short in 2023.
However, one of the most prominent players in that cycle— one with whom the Aggies seemed to have a very natural connection— is now, in all likelihood, headed elsewhere. It’s hard to think that, at the end of the cycle, the Aggies won’t look back on this as a swing and a miss.
Texas A&M losing five-star EDGE Jalanie George is a massive missed opportunity
Five-star edge rusher Jalanie George is set to come to a decision soon, and the Aggies don’t currently figure into his plans. George has a final six set and Texas A&M is not included— even though they have a natural in with George that they should have taken advantage of.

George is down to Ohio State, Miami, Auburn, Florida, Oklahoma, and Washington. That’s an elite grouping of programs (and Washington) that speaks to his caliber as a recruit, but the Aggies don’t figure in here for some strange reason.
The reason that it is such a natural fit is that the Aggies have taken the top player out of Desert Edge high school, where George attends, both of the last two years. Jamar Beal-Goines was a sleeper recruit in the class of 2025 that had insane speed, and the Aggies were the first major program to show big time interest.
After him came Camren Hamiel, another defensive back with elite speed that the Aggies got from the same high school. One would have thought that this pipeline would at least be enough to get Texas A&M a foot in the door with an elite recruit like George, but it apparently wasn’t.
With Elijah Robinson on staff, you know the Aggies are going to bring in several elite defensive line recruits, no matter what. However, given the natural fit that appears to exist here, you can’t help but feel that this is a swing and a miss.
