It's not a surprise that the Texas A&M Aggies are one of the best teams in the country. Their strength of schedule, along with pure dominance, has shown that the Aggies could be the best team in the land.

Of course, we can discuss the Aggies' complete takeover of Baton Rouge, which led to the complete meltdown for LSU fans and even Louisiana state politicians. This was also Brian Kelly's last game coaching the Tigers, but to be honest, Kelly was already in the hot seat.

Back to the game, where Marcel Reed and Cashius Howell were rightfully awarded for their efforts in the LSU game as the top SEC players of the week.

Marcel Reed and Cashius Howell take home SEC awards after LSU blowout

Reed is the SEC Offensive Player of the Week, while Howell is the Co-Defensive Lineman of the Week. Reed had one of the more impressive runs on the night, when he weaved his way down the field for a 41-yard touchdown run. Reed also ran in for another and totaled up 310 all-purpose yards. This was a statement game for Reed, and it definitely moves him up on those Heisman rankings.

Howell feasted against the LSU offensive line and proved to be too much to handle. Howell leads the SEC in sacks with 10. This might be the best front seven unit in college football, and Howell is feasting while Taurean York is anchoring.

If you're a Texas A&M fan, chances are, you aren't surprised about this at all. The Aggies are just playing football, but they're also defying the odds of being the typical 8-4 team that breaks down every season. Missouri and Texas on the road will be serious games, but the Aggies are already proving Vegas wrong by being a serious national championship contender.

This won't be the last time the Aggies take home player of the week hardware, but Reed and Howell taking awards this week show the firepower on both ends of the football.
