Texas A&M's huge first year under McMillan is making Longhorns crash out

What Texas A&M has accomplished in year one under Bucky McMillan has caused a bit of a Longhorn meltdown.

Texas A&M is headed to the SEC Tournament tied for fourth in the nation's deepest conference— a far better finish than anyone had predicted for the Aggies coming into the year. Bucky McMillan has pulled off a one-year bounce back of much greater magnitude than fans thought possible, leveraging a completely empty cupboard into a team that is now almost a lock for the NCAA Tournament.

Meanwhile, Texas A&M's chief rival, the Texas Longhorns, are in a tough way. After the hire of fired Arizona coach Sean Miller, who departed from the Wildcats in the midst of NCAA scrutiny, many Texas fans thought they were going to be on top of the conference pretty quickly— and yet, they finished several spots below the Aggies in the final standings.

A&M will get a first-round bye in Nashville, while Texas will be battling for their tournament lives with Ole Miss in an early game on Wednesday. The cognitive dissonance between expectations and result has not sat well with several Texas fans.

Texas fans crashing out after Bucky McMillan's hugely successful first year with Texas A&M

One very visible Texas basketball fan on X has been doing his best to post through what has been doubtless a very tough time for him:

Great stuff man. I bet this kills at the comedy clubs.

Is there a class at Texas that helps people distinguish between a banner and a graphic that takes 2 minutes to make?

As several people said in the comments, thank goodness that he's not.

Does this person ever, you know, watch basketball?

Maybe Sean Miller will turn out to be a fine coach for Texas, but he has certainly looked this year as though his best days are behind him. Meanwhile Bucky just keeps on defying expectations, and is clearly an ascendant coach in the sport:

This year has been an unmitigated success for Texas A&M basketball, and it has been the opposite for the Longhorns. That can be tough for some in burnt orange to stomach (clearly), but it's the cold, hard truth.
