Texas A&M is slated to open the season just over one month from today, on August 30 in Kyle Field when the UTSA Roadrunners roll into town. Though UTSA is not in a power conference, they won't be any pushovers: per the preseason SP+ power ratings from ESPN's Bill Connelly, the Roadrunners are ranked higher than the Mississippi State Bulldogs, for example.
Of course, a lot of Texas A&M football fans still have some pretty sore memories from the last time a premier group of five (six?) school came to town with the fateful 2022 game against Appalachian State. Though this is a program in a much different place than they were back then, the Aggies had best still be careful.
As things stand, though, it's looking like UTSA may have a lot of things on their mind when they roll into College Station. In a story that could only take place in this modern era of college football, the Roadrunners could be in some hot water.
Former Memphis DB reportedly leaked playbook to UTSA ahead of 2024 game
The Roadrunners have a legit NFL prospect at quarterback in Owen McCown, but outside of draft circles, the first time many fans may be hearing his name is when this story broke earlier today:
REPORT: @On3Memphis has obtained direct messages of former Memphis DB Tahj Ra-El sending UTSA QB Owen McCown the Tigers' playbook before their game💀

According to Tiger Sports Report, Ra-El was dismissed from the Memphis Tigers team in October, not long before this game took place. The player he is calling out in the above screenshots is a guy who apparently started over Ra-El.
This is some pretty nasty stuff, in all honesty. I'm not sure how much UTSA could be completely held to account if they were given this voluntarily, but they certainly seemed to avail themselves of it: Memphis players reportedly said the Roadrunners had a check to match every defensive check that was made in that matchup.
Whether or not this affects the Roadrunner program, it probably won't affect the outcome of their game with the Aggies very much. It's one that A&M should definitely win, but this will hopefully just make that result even more certa
