Texas A&M has secured the sixth seed in next week's SEC Tournament after their torrid win over the LSU Tigers tonight. The Aggies will face off with the winner of the game between the 11 and the 14 seed— likely South Carolina or Auburn— playing in the late game on Thursday night, 25 minutes following the conclusion of game three.

After all of the consternation down the stretch of the year for this Texas A&M basketball team, it's quite an achievement to get a bye for the conference tournament. This is a team that most expected to be a double-digit seed in Nashville in Bucky McMillan's first year, but here they are as a squad that could challenge for a deep run before all is said and done.

If the Aggies win their first game, they will square off with the no. 3 seed, Alabama. That's a matchup that Bucky McMillan's squad has to be hungry for after their last-second loss in Tuscaloosa earlier this season— revenge would be pretty sweet.

Win that, and the Ags likely will face Arkansas in the semifinals, barring some upset along the way. That's another one where the Aggies have to feel good about getting some payback, as they were in the game against Calipari's Hogs for much of the contest up in Fayetteville, so a neutral floor could be a boon.

The extra day off will help the Aggies as they prepare to execute their frenetic style against whoever faces them in Nasvhille. Given that they'll take on a team that will be on zero days of rest, you have to like their luck in the opening matchup— but from there, it will be interesting to watch how the tempo affects them over against their opponents.

All that said, even if the Aggies are quick exits from Nashville, it will be better for their eventual NCAA Tournament chances. You don't want to come into March Madness with heavy legs by any stretch, so hopefully the Aggies can manage their energy well no matter what happens.
