Texas A&M set a program record with ten players selected in this past NFL Draft, a true testament to just how far Elko has brought this program since arriving as the head coach of the Aggies. However, there were projections that the Aggies may have been able to do even more had a few things broken differently.
With the draft now over and done with, and undrafted free agents beginning to sign around the league, that intuition is proving to be correct. Texas A&M has five free agents that have signed so far, with another receiving a rookie minicamp invite, meaning they were that close to furthering this record even more.
Texas A&M UDFAs headed around the league shows that Aggies could have done even more in NFL Draft
Four players that Aggie fans were watching closely near the end of the draft, as they were borderline for getting picked or being passed over, were Le'Veon Moss, Tyreek Chappell, Taurean York, and Scooby Williams. All four have signed already with various destinations as undrafted free agents.
Additionally, running back EJ Smith (who, of course is the son of legendary NFL running back Emmitt Smith) signed with the Kansas City Chiefs, and longtime long snapper Jacob Graham has received minicamp invites from both the Dallas Cowboys and the Houston Texans.

While Graham was not really a candidate to be drafted, it is conceivable that each of the rest of these players could have found their ways into the later rounds had broken differently— York and Moss specifically were players who it was surprising to see be passed over.
Texas A&M's new record sits at 10, and, in a vacuum, it looks like one that's going to be hard to break. But considering the list of draft-eligible players the Aggies have for next year, it could well be that this record stands— unbelievably— for less than 12 months!
Texas A&M is on an upward trajectory of the highest order under Mike Elko. The Aggies are quickly becoming a premier program in college football under his leadership, and every major milestone they hit only confirms that notion.
