It was clear that Mike Elko was not happy with his defense following the win. Taylen Green was getting everything he wanted on offense, and the Aggies handed them a lot. With LSU set to miss a starting offensive lineman against Texas A&M, this sets the tone for the defense to bounce back, and it really sets it up for Cashius Howell to feast.
Texas A&M safety Dalton Brooks spoke with the media on the defensive performance against Arkansas, or lack thereof. Fans can only imagine how much Elko ripped the defense apart after such a poor performance in the second half.
In typical Elko fashion, he kept it brief and strict, and Brooks' words on Elko's fiery nature says everything about exactly how much Elko ripped into his defense.
Mike Elko didn't even have a defensive player of the week
Elko went as far as not even highlight his defense. Probably to put some fuel to the fire before the LSU game, but Brooks and the defense weren't offended at all, and they knew exactly what Elko was talking about.
Brooks and the defense agreed with their head coach, and it seems like the message was loud and clear from Elko to his defense.
"I wouldn't say he was more heated, but he was leveled. You know? He kept it real with us. It was him giving us a real message."Dalton Brooks
This is the typical teacher giving the students a hard time. But corrections and winning solve pretty much all of that, but even the fans know that it was pretty clear that Elko was going to rip into his defense.
In general, the defense has been stepping up, including some crazy numbers on third down against Auburn, Florida, and Mississippi State. Let's hope the Ags can get back to that, and if they repeat their same third quarter avalanche from last year against LSU, the Ags will definitely be in the ball game.
