Texas A&M has an uphill climb if they want to see the Round of 32.
That's according to Joe Lunardi's new bracketology update. He has the nine-seed Texas A&M facing the eight-seed SMU Mustangs. The Aggies fell short to the Mustangs back in December, when the Aggies went into overtime and lost by 13.
It's setting up to be a competitive first-round bout, but even if the Aggies make it past SMU, they have to make a Herculean effort to get through the Round of 32.
Texas A&M may end up playing a No. 1 seed in the Round of 32
Michigan and Duke just faced each other in the game of the season last Saturday. Barring a collapse, both teams will look to be a No. 1 seed. Duke may end up as the No. 1 overall seed, but it may not even matter.
If the Aggies can get out of the first round, ESPN's Joe Lunardi has the Ags facing Michigan in the Round of 32. Not great odds, but crazier things have happened. Yaxel Landeborg looks like a machine every time he takes the court because of his size and ability to spot up and shoot.
Even if the Ags don't end up playing Michigan, they could end up playing Duke instead. It doesn't look too good for the Ags' chances of advancing to the Sweet 16, but Lunardi's best projected pick for them is the seventh seed. If they do that and stay in the Midwest group, they could end up playing UCLA.
But the Bruins have also been a sneaky team at times, winning in dramatic upsets against Purdue and Illinois. As McMillan said after the Oklahoma win, March Madness has already started for the Aggies. In fact, it already started before the Ole Miss game, when they trailed for the first 33 minutes.
