Texas A&M is already building something special in the 2027 recruiting class, even though signing day for 2026 has just now come and gone. The Aggies already have 8 commitments in the upcoming cycle, putting them as an early no. 1 overall class in a year where they'll challenge for that title throughout.
That's not due to mere numbers, either— the Aggies have some extremely high-quality players already in the boat for the junior class. Raylaun Henry, Kamarui Dorsey, Elijah Patmon, Jayce Johnson, and others are all high-level players that have pledged to the Aggies at this point, and each would have his pick of schools across the nation.
Despite some recent staff changes, too, the Aggies are showing absolutely no signs of slowing down. Texas A&M's coast-to-coast reach looks like it may pay off again soon, as the Aggies recently made the top 6 for a Golden State blue-chipper— and A&M is the clear choice here.
Texas A&M is the clear choice for blue-chip 2027 California DL Myels Smith
The Aggies have had a lot of success in California under Mike Elko during his tenure, and they're looking to continue that with this latest recruiting class. Defensive line luminary Myels Smith has recently narrowed his focus to six schools, and among those, the Aggies should be the clear choice:

Where Should He Go?https://t.co/TPKYGcSE8M pic.twitter.com/eSokjWVPfp
Texas A&M is the only SEC team represented here, which should go a long way for a defensive lineman. Considering also the tradition of producing defensive lineman that the Aggies already have, this should be an easy decision for Smith.
The Aggies are clearly already building something really special in this upcoming class. If things continue apace, they'll be a serious threat for that no. 1 spot— and landing Smith woudl go a long way in that respect.
