Texas A&M football is showing that they are willing to match some of the biggest players in the nation when it comes to NIL, exemplified by this latest announcement regarding KC Concepcion. The former NC State receiver was a huge get for the Aggies in the portal when he committed, and that has become only more true after Micah Hudson returned to Texas Tech.
It seemed like the Aggies may lose out on KC at one point, which began to draw the typical complaints and grumbles from a certain section of the fanbase. It wasn't uncommon to hear that the Aggies weren't willing to pony up and commit NIL resources at a position of need, all while other schools like Ohio State, Oregon, and Texas were doing so.
If nothing else, this latest report should put an end to that kind of complaining. Information came out yesterday that Concepcion has quite the NIL setup coming in this year while he'll be in the Maroon and White.
KC Concepcion NIL deal shows Aggies are willing to take big swings to land top talent
Pete Nakos of On3 reported yesterday that KC has quite the dollar number racked up in deals for this upcoming year:
Texas A&M WR KC Concepcion has secured $2.5 million in NIL and roster value deals this offseason, per @PeteNakos_👍💰

This shows a couple of things. First, the Aggies are willing to take some of these big swings to land the kind of talent they need to win a championship. Make no mistake: Concepcion is an elite-level player, so this will pay huge dividends going forward.
Second, the publicity this is getting sets up a wedge in the narrative for this fall. If the Aggies fall short of their goals, and specifically if KC doesn't have a great season, then you'll hear a lot of joking about the "failed investment," mostly with reference to this tweet. If they succeed, though, then it will further vindicate the Aggies' move here.
Finally, it signals to other recruits and portal players that the Aggies are willing to play ball in this new era. I'll be interested to see how the revenue share deal affects things, but the Aggies luckily seem to have a forward-thinking AD when it comes to those matters.
