Texas A&M spring game takeaways: Pass rush still a question mark

The defense on both sides for Texas A&M football was getting home with pressure on several snaps throughout the day, but there was no one player who flashed in the way that Cashius Howell did this past season. Instead, it was a by-committee approach for most of the day.

There were a few flashes from individual players, notably Anto Saka out of Northwestern. But there was no "wow" moment from a guy like Marco Jones, though he was really solid all day.

Mike Elko is one of the best in the country when it comes to scheming up pressures and getting players home via strategy, and that's a lot of what we saw today. But for Texas A&M's defense to be all it can be in the upcoming season, we need a guy like Saka or Jones— or even SDSU transfer Ryan Henderson— to step up in a big way individually.

That could very well come to pass, but today wasn't quite the pass-rushing clinic that you may have expected. Some props are to be given to the offensive line there, as mentioned earlier, but this is a storyline to watch still.
