Texas A&M stays alive in SEC tournament but suffers grievous blow to lineup

Texas A&M baseball isn't out of the picture yet, but things just got all that much harder for them going forward.

Texas A&M's baseball season is on the brink, but they just keep winning in Hoover. After dog walking Mississippi State to the tune of a 9-0 shutout yesterday— no small task in any case, but especially impressive after the weather delay pushing that game overnight— they've won once again.

This time, it was over the Auburn Tigers, who have been an offensive machine for a lot of the year thanks to their star Ike Irish. The Aggies were able to corral them for the most part, though, as they won the game while only allowing two runs.

The bats weren't as active in this one as they were against the Bulldogs, but the pitching, especially from starter Justin Lamkin, was quite impressive. Given A&M's offensive struggles so far, the fact that the only runs on the day came from a three-run Kaeden Kent blast early in the game is a bit worrying, but there's a much bigger concern on Aggie fans' minds.

Texas A&M takes down Auburn to stay alive in SEC Tournament, but Jace LaViolette suffers hand injury

After losing Caden Sorrell, and spending the entire year without Gavin Grahovac, the Aggies' big three on the offensive end had been whittled down to Jace LaViolette for this SEC Tournament. Now, though, the Aggies are without any of them, as it has been reported by Ryan Brauninger of Texags that LaViolette has suffered a broken ring finger.

That puts LaViolette out for the rest of the SEC Tournament, without a doubt; however, there are reports that he may be able to hit if the Aggies were able to make a regional.

That's still a remote possibility at this point, however. The Aggies need to win against LSU tomorrow in order to have a shot, and most likely need to take down the winner of Ole Miss and Arkansas to really feel comfortable.

The further you go in this tourney, the harder it gets. Without LaViolette, the Aggies are going to have to make some magic happen
