Texas A&M football's hot recruiting streak is still very much alive even though they are no longer undefeated in this stretchβ and they're looking to add more to it. One important upcoming decision is that of Rock Hill (SC) safety Tamarion Watkins, who is making his announcement on July 14.
Watkins is currently a major battle between the Aggies and the in-state Gamecocks, but he's been a priority target for Mike Elko and company for quite some time. The Aggies have made no bones about the fact that he is a high-level target for them, and they have made him feel like one for the entirety of the process.
Miami and Georgia are both listed as finalists here as well, but it's the Aggies and Shane Beamer's crew in Columbia that are the finalists. With a decision fast approaching, there are some predictions being made that should make Aggie fans happy.

Steve Wiltfong of On3 has put in a prediction for Tamarion Watkins, after which the Aggies' chances made a huge jump in their proprietary Recruiting Prediction Machine. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out exactly what this means for the Ags.

Consider also that Hayes Fawcett, one of the main players in college football recruiting given that he tweets out almost every announcement, sent this post out not long beforehand:

Put two and two together, and you can see that the Aggies have some big time momentum right now.
Watkins is an extremely interesting prospect. Though he's listed at safety, his 6'4", 201 LB frame has a lot of fans seeing him at linebacker in the future. With his speed, though, he could be the rare linebacker who is not at all a liability in coverage, which would be massive for Mike Elko's defense.
We'll see how this one shakes out next Monday, but the Aggies are looking really good right now in this one. Hopefully Elko and company can stay the course here.
