Texas A&M Aggie football fans are going through a tough one, after Lamar Brown, the top overall player in the nation has committed to play at LSU. While Brian Kelly and the Tigers are celebrating with Brown set to become an immediate impact, the major Texas schools are thinking what could've been.

Sure, this was a disappointing outcome for the Aggies, but this isn't the complete end of the world. The Aggies are almost on the top of the recruiting world thanks to other key names like KJ Edwards, Brandon Arrington, Tristian Givens and Bryce Perry-Wright.

Another name that A&M fans need to recognize is defensive lineman Jamieon Winfield. Even though his commitment to USC was heard across the recruiting world, it seems as though A&M shouldn't be done with Winfield just yet.

A&M's longstanding relationship may be enough to flip Winfield back in-state

Winfield is a 6-foot-4 301 pound defensive lineman from Richardson, Texas. Texas A&M was pushing strong to get him to College Station, but as Mike Elko has been cooking in this recruiting cycle since his USC announcement, it may be enough in the other direction.

We've seen many reversals before, especially in this day and age. We've seen countless high school athletes flip their word just because of a coaching change. Some may have second thoughts on their first team simply because of how poor they play.

USC will always be a hotbed of incoming talent, but the program just isn't what it was before. With a changing landscape in what's now a huge Big Ten conference, USC isn't competing with Ohio State, Penn State, Oregon, Michigan, or even Indiana.

It's not quite over yet for Texas A&M, but if they want a chance to land Winfield, they have to perform well this season and hope that USC lays an egg.
