Auburn's current inability to prevent explosive passing plays
The Texas A&M offense has been living and dying by the explosive passing game — its 17 plays of 20-plus yards ranks 18th in the country, and it has seven that have gone for more than 30 yards. While that can be a risky way to operate on offense, it may not matter too much this weekend; going up against an Auburn squad that has been picked apart by chunk plays on the back end.
The Tigers' defense ranks 106th in the country in explosive passing plays allowed, surrendering 14 through the first month of the season. That's enticing enough for Collin Klein and this Texas A&M offense, but it's also important to note that Auburn has yet to face a team with more than one deep threat on the opposing depth chart. Kole Wilson (Baylor) and Isaiah Sategna (Oklahoma) have had big days against this Auburn secondary, but they've done most of the work for their teams alone.
This should be another massive opportunity for Mario Craver and KC Concepcion to put their fingerprints all over this game, and continue the amazing start to the year the duo has had in the maroon and white.
