Texas A&M, all things considered, did an admirable job of retaining their talent in the portal. There were relatively few defections from their program to the portal, and precious few who had contributed majorly, but there were still some among that number.
Of course, some of these hurt more than others. Here are three players who Texas A&M fans will hate seeing in other teams' uniforms in this upcoming year.
Three players who Texas A&M fans will hate seeing in another uniform: Tristan Jernigan
Jernigan has been a fan favorite among the Aggies since he stepped foot on Texas A&M's campus as a true freshman. He's a guy who brings a lot of excitement and spirit to the locker room, as well as getting the fans charged up on social media.
One of the most memorable off-field moments from this past season came from Jernigan, as following Texas A&M's massive road win over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, he ran over to the fans and did a faux-Irish jig in celebration. He followed that up by hitting the Fighting Irish mascot pose in a moment that will stick with Aggie fans for quite some time due to its hilarity.
He represented a big win for the Aggies over the Alabama Crimson Tide when Nick Saban was still the coach, as Mike Elko swooped in late and was able to gain his commitment on late signing day during his first cycle as Texas A&M's head coach. That was quite the achievement for Elko, and fans had high hopes for Jernigan as a result.
With Taurean York and Scooby Williams ahead of him, though— as well as guys like Noah Mikhail and Daymion Sanford— he wasn't able to see the field. He's moved on out west to Cal, where Aggie fans will be rooting for him— but still secretly wishing that he would have found that success in the maroon and white.
