Who Mike Elko must tab as Texas A&M OC after Collin Klein: Texas Tech's Mack Leftwich

Leftwich has led the Texas Tech Red Raider offense to new heights in his first year, operating a run-heavy scheme that will suit the Aggies' personnel quite well. That has to figure in in a huge way for Mike Elko's newest hire, as he shouldn't bring someone in who runs a completely different scheme.

While Leftwich's offense is not the exact same thing as Klein's, it's probably the closest on this list. That is pretty important for keeping continuity and continuing to develop Marcel Reed as a quarterback, while still bringing an elite-level scheme and philosophy to College Station.

Leftwich may not be the easiest guy to pry out of where he's at, as Tech is obviously sparing no expense in keeping their momentum going, but Elko's recent contract means he'll be able to pay any assistant he gets very well. That's a major consideration with this next move.

I don't know if we can consider Leftwich particularly likely as a replacement for Klein, but it's one that you have to take a shot at given everything that lines up. This is a call that Elko has to make, at the very least.
