Spring game factors to watch for Texas A&M football: Can edge pressure still excel without Cashius Howell?

Texas A&M is losing their top two players in sack production off of last year's team in SEC Defensive Player of the Year Cashius Howell as well as Dayon Hayes. Adding guys like Anto Saka and Ryan Henderson from the portal should help replace some of that production, but taking that much of a hit by the raw numbers is never good.

While A&M's pass rush may not be quite as lethal as it was last year, there are reasons to feel good about it. Two of them are the aforementioned Henderson and Saka, as both of those will be huge pieces for Elijah Robinson and Mike Elko to move around and use to great effect, but there's also the continued growth of the guys already on campus.

True freshman Tristian Givens is a player who has gotten a lot of buzz throughout the spring, so he could be a guy to keep an eye on. Sam M'Pemba is another athletic monster who laid dormant last season, but he could have a breakout year in 2026.

The big name to watch, of course, is Marco Jones. He is a player that reporters around the team couldn't stop talking about last offseason, and he seems poised for a massive jump in this upcoming season. If Jones can take the step that many expect him to, he could threaten for double-digit sack numbers as soon as this season.
