Texas A&M football has wrapped up their annual spring game as of today. The Aggies went out and put on a defensively-dominated display in a time where fewer and fewer schools are even having spring games at all.
There was a lot to be encouraged about and a lot to discuss in general that came out of this game. Here are three takeaways for fans after today's action.
Tight end could have unexpected threat in room for 2025
Coming into the game, there was a laundry list of things that Aggie fans were searching for. I'm not sure going to Nate Boerkircher early and often was on that list, but it ended up working out that way.
And that's not a bad thing in the slightest. Boerkircher looked every bit of the dual-threat TE option that was missing from this offense last year in today's Maroon and White game, which is a good sign going forward for the Aggies.
If Boerkircher can develop into a legitimate every-down player and receiving threat, the Aggies will be in amazing shape. That's a big if, but today was quite encouraging.
Receiver may just be alright after all
The Aggies lost Micah Hudson to transfer after having him on campus for a precious short time. However, it's looking like that area of concern may not be as dire as we had supposed.
The show that Ashton Bethel-Roman put on was a sight to see. The hype looks like it was justified so far, as he was all over the field in today's game.

It wasn't just him, either: Izaiah Williams made quite a few plays as well, and KC Concepcion was targeted a lot early. All of these are encouraging signs for the Aggies, and hopefully this position group only continues to get better.
Line play still TBD, but emerging star is clear
It's always hard to tell how well or how poorly an offensive line or defensive line will do in a spring game like this. When your depth chart is spread across two teams, a lot of the combinations of difference makers that a DC or OC might like to use are impossible to bring together.
That's even more true when you consider the injury situation that the Aggies were dealing with today. No Trey Zuhn and no Ar'maj Reed-Adams meant that two of the best A&M offensive linemen were out for the game, and therefore neither the Maroon nor the White side resembled the finished prodcut we'll eventually see this fall.
But even with that said, there was one eye-catching player the entire day: true freshman Marco Jones. The DE from California made play after play, living up to all of the hype he's received thus far.
This was the kind of performance that heralds a breakout year. Don't be surprised if you see Jones starting for the Aggies at some point in his freshman season.
