Texas A&M is rolling into Baton Rouge this weekend against an LSU program whose fanbase is increasingly disillusioned with their head man, Brian Kelly. At the beginning of the week, there were even LSU fans online saying they were pulling for the Aggies so that they could more quickly be rid of Kelly.
The Aggies will be happy to oblige by dispatching the Tigers in emphatic fashion tonight. Though a slugfest seems likely, there's also a recipe for the Aggies to run away with this one. Here's how they can pull that off.
Three reasons Texas A&M dominates LSU: Tigers can't contain Marcel Reed
This game last year was when Marcel Reed really announced himself as a force to be reckoned with in the SEC. It was his legs that killed the Tigers in the second half at Kyle Field last year, helped along with some timely turnovers created by BJ Mayes and the A&M defense, but he's been less disposed to use that aspect of his game so far this year.
With LSU's struggles against mobile quarterbacks continuing so far this year (see what Diego Pavia and Trinidad Chambliss did against them), Reed could prove deadly on that front once more in tonight's game. More than anything, this unit for the Tigers has poor eye discipline, so the presnap motions and formational advantages that Klein is so adept at will play in big time here.
Reed only threw two passes against the Tigers last year, but both were perfectly-placed and well-timed. He'll be harder-pressed to use his arm in this game, obviously, but his weapons are far better this year compared to last. If the Aggies are to win in this one, Reed will have to shine.
