Three reasons Texas A&M defeats South Carolina: Aggies control the ball all day
This is one of those games where it will be really paramount for the Gamecocks to hold on to the ball and sustain drives— but that already seems like it's a pipe dream. This Carolina offense has been the opposite of consistent this year, and the Aggies are extremely proficient at preventing long drives.
The Aggies are tops in the SEC in average time of possession in conference games, and the Gamecocks come in at 11th. That's not a good recipe coming in, and when you consider the individual matchups here, Carolina fans have to be pretty nervous.
If Texas A&M can hold on to the ball, picking up steady yardage with the run game, you will eventually see the South Carolina defense completely break. Similar to what we saw at LSU, if the defense remains out there for long stretches while the offense is unable to give them a break, it will turn into an Aggie avalanche.
This is a Texas A&M offense that is remarkably consistent, especially in second halves, and is only getting better week by week. Their point totals over the last three games: 45, 49, and 38. Those latter two were both season-highs given up by the defense they were facing, and I think we see the same thing this Saturday.
