Nine games up, nine games down. We're back for the 10th time this season handing out three reasons why the Aggies will lose a game and, this go-around, it's going to take a whole lot out of South Carolina to finally get one right.
Texas A&M is a prohibitive favorite in this game, with the betting line sitting at 17.5 points per Vegas, and is facing a team with virtually nothing left to play for this season. Will that make for a spirited Gamecock effort? I'm not too sure, but let's take a look at what it would specifically take from Shane Beamer's team to get the job done.
LaNorris Sellers puts on the Superman cape
The easiest path to a South Carolina victory is simple in theory: have your best player put on his best performance of the year, and hope that he's so head and shoulders above everyone else on the field that you can escape Kyle Field with the win. LaNorris Sellers has had plenty of game-breaking performances, most notably his 350-yard, three-touchdown performance against the Aggies last season.
The redshirt sophomore has taken a bit of a step back this season, throwing for fewer than 200 yards in six of his nine games so far, but he's had some strong games scattered throughout the season. He recently had Alabama on the ropes with a 289-yard and two-touchdown outing, and ran for 81 yards in the Gamecocks' dominant victory over Kentucky.
Again, projecting an upset this weekend is a tall task, but it all starts with a dominant performance from Sellers where he is unquestionably the best player on the field.
