The Texas A&M Aggie football squad is looking to go out on a high note.
After a disappointing end to conference play this season, including a loss against their in-state rival, the Aggies are looking to bounce back.
There are a plethora of storylines to choose from heading into Lost Wages, but here are just three of them.
Aggies could put Lincoln Riley on early 2025 hot seat with a USC loss
The Aggies could start the nail in the coffin for Lincoln Riley's tenure at USC.
Despite having (once again) a high ranking with high hopes to begin the season, USC fell off once more.
Riley was a hot ticket because of his ability to drag Caleb Williams with him from Oklahoma. Of course, those days are long over now.
USC's now former quarterback Miller Moss just recently transferred (subscription required) to Louisville.
Could the Aggies use this bowl game to start conversations about Riley's current tenure at USC?
Riley did emphasize how important bowl games actually are.
"All Bowl games are important. Not all teams are playing in them. It's a chance to showcase the program and for young guys to play. "Lincoln Riley
The relevance of this bowl game could mean more for USC in the future compared to Texas A&M.
Texas A&M run game must show up against USC
With the Aggies down two wide receivers now, the run game will have to get going.
This might be one of those games where Marcel Reed goes for nearly 100 yards on the ground, just to make the game slightly easier.
Rueben Owens who we barely saw due to injury this season, is not "all the way back" according to Mike Elko.
"He's had a good week of preparation. He's not all the way back. That's a five-month injury. We are at four months. "Mike Elko
Texas A&M has used some unique sets on run schemes, such as Terry Bussey lining up in the backfield next to Reed.
As to how often we might see that is a question we won't know until we see it.
Either way, the ground game is super important in this game, and the Aggies offensive line will be depended on to open up holes for the running backs.
Riley praises Reed: "best young players in college football"
Riley took some time to give Reed some flowers on what was a roller coaster of a season for him.
This is the perfect opportunity to see Reed go all out to show why he's the quarterback of the future .
He's made a name for himself since starting for Conner Weigman in the Florida game.
His development this offseason will be crucial, as it will give an idea as to how Reed has progressed in his passing game.
