Three takeaways from Texas A&M football embarrassing the LSU Tigers in Kyle Field
Three takeaways from Texas A&M football stealing LSU's thunder to take control of the SEC
Texas A&M football just got their biggest, most consequential win since joining the SEC. On the biggest stage, against a top-10 opponent and rival, the Aggies roared back from down 10, behind a gutsy call by Mike Elko to put in Marcel Reed, to seize firm control of the SEC as the conference's lone remaining unbeaten.
This Aggie team is now on a 7-game win streak, the longest since 2020. They are 5-0 in SEC play for the first time in history. And they have so much more ahead of them.
Let's talk takeaways.
Takeaways from Texas A&M football vs. LSU: This is a mentally tough team
It could have been easy to fold under the pressure of the LSU attack. Blake Baker had schemed up the Tiger defense well to deal with Klein's offense with Weigman at the helm, and you had dropped passes and missed OL assignments galore in the first half.
With less buy-in from the guys around him, inserting Reed could have been a complete disaster for this Texas A&M football team. But the team locked in, the defense especially, and the Aggies started the comeback.
Once that avalanche started, it didn't stop. LSU delivered the first few blows, yes, but the Aggies stood in there longer than the Tigers thought they would. Then, it was A&M delivering haymaker after haymaker.
This type of grit and mental toughness is at a premium in this conference. Not every team has it—we saw a squad in Austin completely crumple in a high-pressure situation last week.
The Aggies, it seems, are built differently.
