Takeaways from Texas A&M football vs. LSU: Elko is still elite at halftime adjustments

Near halftime, when LSU had 17 points, I mentioned to someone I was watching the game with that the Aggies had yet to give up more than 24 points in a game this year. He responded that it would be tough to exit this game with that still being the case.

Well, with the game now well behind us, that statistic is well-intact. And, in no small part, we have Mike Elko to thank.

It seems commonplace now for the first few drives of an Aggie opponent to be almost a feeling-out process for the A&M defense. Then, they clamp down almost completely.

Sometimes, that process is delayed until after halftime. But with few exceptions, the Aggies improve dramatically on defense over the course of a game.

We all knew that Mike Elko was a wizard when it comes to defensive adjustments. He continues to show week in and week out that that is the case.
