Three takeaways from Texas A&M's win over Auburn: The penalties have to be figured out
The biggest thing that made this game a complete slog was the fact that there were so many penalties on both sides. I mentioned it in the instant reaction, but this game was clearly being called particularly tightly after the officiating complaints from last weekend's Auburn and Oklahoma game.
Even so, there were far too many penalties for this team. It seemed like nothing could really get going without a yellow flag flying and the Aggies getting moved back a few yards, whether the penalties were ticky-tack or not.
This has been a little bit of a recurring theme in these last few games, which is making Aggie fans a little suspicious of the degree to which it will actually eventually go away. This coaching staff has to make cleaning those up a priority.
At the end of the day, though, a win is a win, and the Aggies are in a great spot after this one. It didn't come back to bite you against the Tigers, but it could in the future.
