Texas A&M left tackle Trey Zuhn III has officially been selected by the Las Vegas Raiders with the 91st pick in the NFL draft. Zuhn is now the seventh former Aggie taken in this draft, and we aren't even halfway done.

The Raiders needed to bolster their offensive line after staking their future on number one overall pick Fernando Mendoza and Trey Zuhn III is the perfect guy to do just that as one of the best pass-blockers in the draft. The consensus seems to be that Zuhn will be making the transition to center or most likely, guard once he gets with the team due to his smaller arms.

Texas A&M tackle Trey Zuhn drafted to Las Vegas Raiders to protect Fernando Mendoza

Despite his physical limitations, Zuhn III is the perfect guy to make this transition. He has great size, feet, and blocking ability from being a long-time tackle. Remember that Zuhn was a first team all SEC selection and won the Jacobs blocking trophy for the best blocker in the conference. If it wasn't for the size of his arms, he would be a tackle in the NFL and have been drafted higher.

The transition to the interior shouldn't be too difficult for Zuhn as he played 124 snaps at center this past season. With the signing of C Tyler Linderbaum in the offseason, the quickest path to consistent playing time will be as a guard for Zuhn. He has all the things you could want in a lineman. He rarely let up any sacks in pass protection and was a solid force in the run game.

The Raiders and more importantly, Fernando Mendoza should be very happy with the addition of Trey Zuhn III. He has the chance to be a mainstay on the Vegas O-line for years to come and I can't wait to see him play for years to come.
