TV lays out why Shemar Stewart is right to resist signing rookie contract with Bengals

Just pay the man already!

Texas A&M saw some tremendous defensive talent picked in the 2025 NFL Draft. One of those being Shemar Turner, who will be headed to the Chicago Bears. He will be a huge help on the defensive line, and with veteran DT Grady Jarrett already speaking highly of him, it could be a golden opportunity for Turner to shine in his rookie year.

Another story is the story all Aggie fans have been talking about since the draft, and that's the Cincinnati Bengals holding out on Shemar Stewart's rookie contract. Stewart has every right not to practice, as all he's asking for is to just get paid. We thought this dispute would end weeks ago, but this is just getting ridiculous at this point.

Craig Carton on FS1's 'Breakfast Ball' seems to strongly agree with Stewart's decision, as he puts things into real perspective comparing Stewart's situation to every other rookie in the NFL.

Carton on Stewart: 'He has every right not to sign that deal'

Carton hits the money when discussing Stewart's situation with his other peers. No other rookie this season has had to go through the same obstacles as Stewart in terms of contract negotiation.

"He has every right not to sign that deal, because every other first-round pick does not have and has never had the language that the Bengals are trying to squeeze into this kid's contract. "
Craig Carton

It almost seems like the Bengals never believed in him in the first place, and if they don't feel that way, then why not pay him already? Carton agrees with Stewart and his agent to hold off on this until something is fixed.

This seems like another debacle from the Bengals organization, which is hilarious considering we're still months away from the preseason. The truth is: no other rookie has had an issue, and this is not a great look for the Bengals in handling their first-round pick.
