The Texas A&M Aggies suffered their first loss of the season, thanks to nightmares from 2024 coming back to haunt them.
The Aggies' defense could not stop the run. More specifically, it was Quintrevion Wisner who struck again. Wisner had 174 all-purpose yards on Friday night, and a year ago, he went for over 200 all-purpose yards, with 186 of those coming from his 33 rushing attempts.
Arch Manning got more confident running the football, too, as he put the dagger in the Aggies after a touchdown run. In the first half, there were plenty of candidates for winners, but in the second half, it turned for the worse.
Faller: Marcel Reed
I know it. You know it, and he knows it. Reed was not good in the second half, and Mike Elko made sure to address it, too. His two interceptions killed any momentum the Aggies had, and it was pretty much dead after all of that.
The injury in the first half didn't make much of a difference in his game, and he looks to be OK for the College Football Playoff, thankfully.
Maybe he needed a reality check like this to get ready for the postseason, but let's hope he can correct those mistakes in enough time.
Riser: Taurean York
You can't say enough about the contribution York has made on defense. York racked up some tackles early and continued to be the vocal leader that he always is.
York finished with 11 total tackles and a tackle for loss. This was the game where the Ags needed the best version of York, and they got him.
Faller: Texas A&M offensive line
The ground game couldn't get going with anyone, but even Reed out rushed Owens II on the night.
Owens went for 13 carries for 48 yards, going for an average of 3.7 yards per carry. The offensive line probably had its worst game in terms of run offense, and it showed.
The Texas A&M OL remains one of the best in college football, and the teams with the best OL are usually the ones to run the table in December and January.
